The e-mentor program aims to fill the need for strong female role models in science careers. The mentor relationship is beneficial to both mentor and mentee as each dialogue about their experiences as Jewish women in science.
Potential mentors and students fill out a simple questionnaire to help JAWS staff get to know them. When a student form is received JAWS staff then searches the mentor database to locate an appropriate mentor. The mentor is then contacted by JAWS to confirm that they are willing to take on the student. If the mentor agrees then e-mail communication is initiated by the mentor. If the mentor is busy, a new mentor is contacted. JAWS will e-mail all students within, approximately, a week of receiving their form to update them on the matching process.
If at any time mentor or mentee experiences a problem they should contact JAWS immediately at [email protected]
This is an e-mail and phone based program. JAWS does not support in person contact. If at any point someone suggests arranging a meeting JAWS prefers that you contact them immediately at [email protected]
Please note, signing up to become a mentor or to request a mentor does not provide membership of the site. To become a mentor or request a mentor you must also become a member. The link to sign up is on the home page.
