About Me
I am an Associate Professor of Environmental Microbiology at a branch campus (Harrisburg) of Penn State University. My research focuses on the use of microorganisms to remediate environmental contamination, the design of low-impact waste treatment technologies and emerging pathogens in the environment. Much of my work has involved collaborations with both public health professionals and engineers. In fact, for many years I was the only scientist and the only woman in an Engineering Program (Talk about lonely). I have balanced the conflicting requirements of a family and career (although how successful that balance has been is still an open question) and would be happy to share my experiemces and insights with younger women.
